Fridas Fussel

Animals, in human poses.

Fridas Fussel is the studio's print project: a growing picture series in which animals quietly take on the roles, fashions and moods of the humans who watch them. A showcase, not a shop. Since 2023.

Open illustrated calendar on a bookbinder's table, warm natural light.

The full picture archive lives at fridasfussel.studio

All editions and behind-the-scenes images live as a showcase on the dedicated Fridas Fussel website. No shop, no tracking.

Four calendars a year: the everyday lives of cats across the decades, fashion as colour palette, a walk through art history, and animals in their finest dress.

Each calendar is composed as a small visual essay. The illustrations balance precision and warmth: recognisable animals, careful styling, light humour.

The editions

Four calendars, one picture series.

Ed. 01

Cats through the decades

Cats walk the 1920s, the 1950s, the punk years and the present. Twelve eras, twelve cats, twelve attitudes.

Ed. 02

Fashion speaks in every colour

Twelve animals, twelve colour worlds. From broken sage to warm terracotta to cool Berlin blue. Fashion as palette, not pattern.

Ed. 03

A walk through the eras

Cats wander art history. Renaissance gardens, Belle Époque salons, mid-century cinema, contemporary studios.

Ed. 04

Animals in their finest

Twelve animals in their Sunday best. Tailcoat, gown, tracht, uniform. No carnival, only the tailor's craft.

A project in the studio Ankarina

Fridas Fussel was the first print work of the studio.

The Fridas Fussel picture series is the first print work of what would later become Ankarina. Founded in 2023, it grew from a single edition into a small but consistent catalogue.

The illustrations work because they take their subjects seriously: the animals are not props for jokes, they are portrayed as having lives of their own.

In 2024, Fridas Fussel became one of several independent projects under the studio name Ankarina. The Fridas Fussel website continues to be the dedicated home of the picture series.
